Tallow has been used for generations as a natural moisturiser. Rich in nourishing fatty acids, it works alongside the skin's natural barrier to help lock in moisture and leave skin feeling soft and comfortable.
At Bare Glow, we use organic grass-fed New Zealand beef tallow blended with carefully chosen botanical ingredients to create simple, effective skincare.

Bare Glow was created from a desire to return to simple, natural skincare, taking a step away from 10-step routines, endless ingredient lists, and products that promise everything but often leave skin feeling irritated, dry, or out of balance. We wanted to create products made with high-quality, organic ingredients we know and trust, making skincare simpler while nourishing and supporting healthy, glowing skin.
At the heart of our products is certified organic grass-fed beef suet sourced from Black Pond Farm in Mangatangi. Using traditional methods, we slowly render the suet into pure, nourishing tallow, creating a rich base for our skincare. We then blend it with high-quality organic botanical ingredients chosen for their skin-loving benefits, made to support healthy, radiant skin.

We source our suet from Black Pond Farm, where cattle are raised on certified organic, regenerative pastures with a strong focus on animal welfare and soil health, ensuring a clean, high-quality foundation for our balms.

What is beef tallow and why is it used in skincare?
Beef tallow is gently rendered from cattle fat and has been used in skincare for generations. Its natural fats are very similar to our skin’s own, making it deeply nourishing and easy to absorb.
Is tallow greasy?
Not the way you might expect. Because tallow is so compatible with skin's natural oils, it tends to absorb well rather than sitting on top of the skin.
Do you offer local pickup?
We offer free local pickup for customers in the Franklin area. Select "Free Local Pickup" at checkout, and we'll contact you after your order to arrange a convenient pickup time and location.
If this option is selected by customers outside the Franklin area, we'll contact you to arrange standard shipping instead.
Can I use it on my face and body?
Yes! Both balms are suitable for use on the face and body. Simply scoop a small pea-sized amount and warm it between your fingertips until it melts slightly, then apply to your face or body. Because it's concentrated and nourishing, a little goes a long way. It can be used morning and night, or whenever your skin needs a boost.
Do the balms have a scent?
Yes — our Rosehip Tallow Balm has a light, natural scent from the rosehip oil, and our Lavender Tallow Balm has a gentle, calming lavender scent from pure lavender essential oil. Neither contain synthetic fragrances.
Is tallow suitable for sensitive skin?
Many people with sensitive skin find tallow works really well for them, as it's free from the synthetic ingredients that can often cause reactions. As with any new skincare product, we recommend patch testing first.
Who is it for? Is it suitable for all ages?
Bare Glow is for anyone who wants simple, natural skincare that actually works — and yes, plenty of men use (and love) it too.
It’s suitable for adults of all ages. For babies or young children, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider first.
